Commemorating the 20th Anniversary of Equality California and its accomplishments, JJLA was tasked with producing a five-part fundraiser series commemorating the 20th anniversary of Equality California and its accomplishments. Organizers presented Equality Awards to community activists and civic leaders in honor of their contributions to the state’s eclectic LGBTQ community, at artfully executed celebrations in Sacramento, San Francisco, San Diego, Los Angeles and Palm Springs where these events were carefully curated in unique venues to show appreciation for the eclectic state of California and its queer communities. Local artists from each community were incorporated in event programming, with a focus on LGBTQ talent. RuPaul’s Drag Race star Carmen Carrera, the world’s only trans woman soprano opera singer Brianna Sinclairé, pop artists Jason Mraz and Kim Petras, and the Sacramento Kings marching band. JJLA also partnered with sponsoring brands to activate photo booths, specialty drinks and after party designs, including WeedMaps, Tito’s Vodka, and Southwest Airlines. Through months of hard work and diligence, JJLA assisted in meeting and exceeding Equality California fundraising goals to support activism for years to come.
