To introduce his W!LD era, independent rapper Russ partnered with SLAACK and JJLA to create a one night album listening experience that rejected traditional industry formats. Set on an open mesa in Santa Clarita, CA, the event was designed as a direct, intentional moment between an artist and their fandom.
On June 21, 2025, 500 fans arrived by car and formed a circular audience around a small central stage in the desert. With no existing venue infrastructure or utilities, JJLA built a fully operational live environment from the ground up, establishing order, safety, and intimacy while preserving the scale and openness of the landscape.
The listening format defined the night. Rather than amplified speakers, the album was transmitted directly into vehicles via a temporary FM radio station, blending analog nostalgia with a contemporary rollout strategy. Fans listened from their cars, responded with horn blasts between tracks, and climbed onto rooftops to take in the moment, turning the desert into a shared listening field with a distinctly retrofuturistic feel.
JJLA led site operations and execution, designing the parking flow, vehicle placement, and arrival sequencing to maintain clean sightlines and a cohesive footprint. By using targeted FM radio waves as the primary delivery system, the team transformed a technical constraint into a creative advantage, enabling a listening experience that felt at once personal and communal. The event quickly spread across social platforms and press, positioning the album rollout as bold, intentional, and unmistakably Russ.
For JJLA, the project demonstrated a core strength: the ability to translate unconventional ideas into precise, functional live experiences in environments where traditional event frameworks simply don’t exist!
